I am a fan of keeping DST. I would truly like it if we never “fell back” at all. In response, I sent this to the state representative that wrote the bill.
Dan Flynn filed a bill in November calling for legislators to end daylight saving time, and the public hearing for his bill is today.
Sir, many in this state happen to like DST.
Our family looks forward to DST each year. Yes, it can take a little bit to adjust, but, big deal.
As a working mom, one job ends at 5:00 p.m., and the “mom” job, well, that one is 24/7.
I am 53 years old, and have a middle school aged child. When my family gets off work/school (aftercare) at 5, the prospect of playing catch, flying kites, working in the yard, watching the kids shoot hoops with the neighbors, riding bikes, walks with my family in the neighborhood in the afternoon sunlight and many other outdoor activities are the rewards of suffering through the cold short days of winter.
Longer days mean Spring is just around the corner. It’s not long until school is out and summer is here!
I have spent my entire life living and working to the rhythm of DST. I am not a fan of winter, and am grateful Texas does not have long ones. Eliminating DST will make our thankfully short winters longer.
Remove your House Bill, and forget this silliness. Try to find something more important to work on. This was a waste of your time and mine.

Don’t take my daylight away, winter is so cold.
Hey, How do you feel about DST? Keep it? Ditch it? I’d like to know.
